A Wild West Tenderfoot Unofficial Guide to Cub-Parent Weekend

This guide is intended to give a New Tenderfoot and his crew a little inside information on how to make the most out of their  weekend experience.  It is only a guide.  Feel free to arrange your schedule anyway you would like.

BB Shooting: This is one of the more popular activities and the wait can get pretty long.  If you arrive and there is a big crowd, try moving on to another activity and coming back later.  Many people go straight to BB Shooting and so there is a long wait.  However, the wait later in the day is not nearly as long.

Archery: This is the same as BB Shooting reread above and when it says the word BB Shooting substitute the word Archery.

Climbing Wall: The climbing wall is open for both the Tenderfoot and seasoned ranch hands.  Practice your climbing  to prepare for the black hills.  Note: there may be a long wait because climbing takes some time and you must get into a harness before attempting your ascent.

Boating: A Cowboy should know a little about boating.  At the north end of the lake you will find rowboats and paddle boats.  Boating takes a while but generally is not a long wait.  (No fishing from the boats).  For safety's sake EVERYONE MUST WEAR A Personal Flotation Device.

Fishing:  If you brought your own tackle feel free to try your hand in the lake.  It's catch and release and no fishing in the swimming area.

Swimming: Swimming in Lake Arrowhead is a little different than other places.  We have some interesting obstacles in the lake.  There is a trampoline in the middle of the lake as well as an iceberg you can climb on.  There is also an aligtor and a giant Hotdog.  Even though there is an iceberg in the lake the water is not that cold.

Crafts: The craft tent has a few things to offer.  Stop in and see what there is to offer.

Cookwagon Cook-off: Iron Chef has Great ingredients, Great equipment and Great Chefs,.  We have our own contest no Great equipment, no Great ingredients, no Great Chefs but we have a contest and we need assistant chefs.  Show up and you might be one of our assistants..  After dinner we'll all see if these cooks are any good!

Campfire: Here with your Pack or Den or just by yourself let us know if you have a skit to perform at the campfire.  Don't have a skit but still want a part in the show. Sign up anyhow.    If you don't have one tell us how many in your group or if you're alone and we'll teach you a skit you can do.                              We will be auditioning all skits to be sure they are appropriate.

Food:  Don't miss your meals. Dinner on Saturday night (Chicken Barbecue) and Breakfast on Sunday.

Pirate Necessities: Remember to stop at the trading post to pick up your mug for coffee. (one Free for each Adult guest)  Also you might want to pick up a souvenir of your weekend.

Coffee:  You can usually find a cup of coffee at the dinning hall before breakfast.  Bring your own mug there will be no cups.
